In the aftermath of Debconf 2, Joey Hess presented the idea of having a hacking session before or after Debconf itself. That seemed like a great idea, so we held Debcamp the whole week before Debconf 3 itself starts. The exact dates were from July 12th to July 17th.
Debcamp was not too organised. We provided network connectivity, some blackboards (or whiteboards) and rooms for everybody to work in. We provided free breakfast, lunch and dinner for everyone who registered. We did not organise any presentations, lectures or anything like that, but people were welcome to discuss and organise them yourself on the mailing list and on the IRC channel. Some proposed projects got listed on the project page.
Debcamp was what you made of it. One did not have to be present the whole week either.
Those that planned to be there were asked to subscribe to the mailing list for debcamp.
Things people should have thought about
- Power
- Electricity is 230V/50Hz. International power, plugs and languages has more information. You may also run into ungrounded sockets.
- For those coming from countries with 100V/110V (Canada, Japan, USA etc): Your laptop will almost surely work, you only need to buy a converter for the plug of the power cord. Check your laptop's power supply - they almost always are rated 100-240V.
- Servers
- Everyone should have received a username and password for the thin clients and servers. The address for the server is dc1.raw.no
- Sleep

- Laundry
- The coin-operated launderette "Majorstuen Myntvaskeri" is at Vibes gate 15; it is open 08-20 (closes 15 on Saturdays).
